Aug/ 28 - Lily says bye to friends.

Sunday afternoon and Lily is having a bunch of kids over to say goodbye. Her friends are excited for her but she is not so sure. She has just started Ocean Shore school in Pacifica and loves it. New teacher, new principal and new friends. She is safe and happy and then WHAM!@#$%^& Her screwball parents kidnap her for who knows what? Ice cream, a bunch of 12 year old girls, chocolate sauce, music and I will be on the next floor.

The last major shift in my art work came in 1982 when I lost my two closest friends. I stopped working for two years and when I started up again I was in a very different place. It is time for that kind of shift to happen to me again. My gallery of 25 years is closing, Lily is 12 years old, I am 66 and Andrea needs SOMETHING to happen. So Lily, Andrea and Cork are getting lost in America. How did we arrive at this? One morning Andrea awoke and pronounced "you've always wanted to go to the Bay of Fundy so lets get an RV and take a three month trip around America." There was maybe a 5 minute discussion and I said yes. About 5 months ago we bought 1999 Fleetwood Tioga with 33,000 miles on it. I studied up on RV's and learned what the tell tale signs are of abuse and of people actually living in the RV rather than traveling in it. We have taken a few short trips to be sure we can cook the way like to, that we could all sleep comfortably and most important of all was that the Geyser from the holding tank as portrayed in the movie RV was exaggerated.  And each of us is writing separate blogs and we have agreed not read each others until we return home. The plan is to travel North and hang out in Seattle for a few days with our friends Animal and Bennett ( Lily's fairy God Fathers) and then just start to drift East. We will be looking for great pie and losing our current rhythm.
About the picture. I have been thinking about what might be the next big thing in America's refined palate for art. I was thinking about this as I walked my dog one morning. Blaze My dog made a road side deposit in a bunch of sticks and in the process of collecting her deposit I grabbed some dry sticks which were intertwined with her droppings. In that moment I saw it! The subtlety of  Ichibana ( the Japanese art of flower arranging) and American's love of their dogs. In that moment CacaBana was born. I am going to champion this new activity and establish the International CacaBana society.
One swift gesture is all you need to join the new art craze that will sweep the nation. It is perfect for today, you need no talent or experience just go for the Twigs and Doggy droppings and you are in business.
